City Cancels Spring Classes, Programs, and Current Facility Usage Permits to Flatten COVID-19 Curve3/20/2020 TORRANCE, Calif., March 20, 2020- In response to the growing concerns regarding the health and safety of the community, the Torrance Community Services Department has cancelled all classes and programs for the Spring 2020 Session. If you are a customer that had registered for spring classes and/or programs using the City Website or in person at City Hall, you will be issued a full refund. As these refunds will take time to process, please be patient. Staff will be sending refund receipts and/or confirmations to customers as they are processed. You may contact the Registration Desk at (310) 618-2720 beginning Monday, March 23, at 8 a.m. if you have questions about your refund.
In addition, the Torrance Community Services Department is cancelling all facility permits for the following facilities:
If you are a customer that had booked one of the aforementioned facilities between now and May 1, 2020, the Facility Booking Office will be processing full refunds for all cancelled permits. Staff will be sending receipts and/or confirmations beginning Monday, March 23. Please be patient, as the cancellations and refunds will take time to process. If you have questions about a Facility Refund for the facilities listed above, please contact the Facility Booking Office at (310) 618-5982. Please be reminded that the City's Internet and Email system was shut down for a period of time, and that all transactions processed between February 20 and March 1, 2020, were lost. Customers are requested to keep copies of all receipts, as staff may be contacting them to ensure that all refunds are processed correctly. Unfortunately, at this time, City Hall is closed to customers and we are not accepting refund requests via email. We ask for your continued patience as the processing of refunds will take time. For customers that are issued check refunds, they will be mailed out in 4-6 weeks or longer, depending on the volume of refunds. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this has caused our customers. At this time plans are in place to continue with what we hope will be a busy summer season.
