City of Torrance Offers Free In-Home COVID-19 Testing to Torrance At-Risk Seniors

TORRANCE, Calif., April 19, 2020- Beginning Tuesday, April 21st, the City of Torrance will now be providing free, in home, COVID-19 testing to at-risk seniors (65 and older) who live in the City of Torrance.  The Torrance Cares 4 Seniors, COVID-19 nasal swab test (currently the most reliable indicator of the presence of Coronavirus infection) will be administered by Torrance Fire Department personnel in the comfort of your home. The testing process takes between 5 and 10 minutes and results will be available between 3-4 days.

Torrance residents who are in the highest-risk categories are eligible for in-home testing if they currently have symptoms. This includes those individuals with COVID-19 symptoms who are:
  • 65 and older; and/or
  • Have underlying health conditions including:
  • Diabetes
  • Heart disease
  • Hypertension
  • Chronic lung disease
  • Moderate to severe asthma; or,
  • People who are immunocompromised, including those compromised as a result of cancer treatment
Beginning tomorrow, April 20, appointments will be available up to 3 days in advance. Those qualified can call 310-320-5918 Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to schedule, or online at CityofTorranceCA.com/TC4Seniors.

Torrance Cares 4 Seniors is the newest program the City of Torrance has rolled out in their Torrance Cares Campaign.  Other programs rolled out in their effort to slow the spread include Torrance Cares Connections, Torrance Cares 4 Business and Torrance Cares 2-Go, the successful grocery delivery service that recently exceeded 1000 completed deliveries.
